Dance Choreography Intensive for Teens

DCI is an 8-week online mentorship in dance and choreography. Specifically created for young dancers of all abilities, experience, and backgrounds. YCP provides a supportive workshop environment for students to take an initial creative idea all the way to a professionally produced showcase. Over the course of 8 weeks dancers create a dance piece and present the finished product in front of an audience. Along the way, dancers develop confidence in their ideas and practice leadership skills. Students have Mentor support throughout the week through scheduled one-on-one meetings, and individual communication. Group Class Sessions: Sundays from 12 pm – 2 pm (Pacific). All participants attend. Mentor Sessions: Scheduled during the week at student/mentor convenience (up to 60 minutes each session). Intensive Topics: Discovering and creating movement Dancing for film Incorporating space in choreography Music and soundscapes for dance Giving and receiving feedback Careers in dance Producing a dance performance Eligibility: Ages 13 – 18 years old Passion for movement Curiosity about exploring dance and choreography Desire to learn, create , connect, and contribute End of intensive performance is Saturday, March 19.
