Music For Lovers

“When the whole world discovers That love’s the only thing worthwhile There’ll be music for everyone And the whole world will smile” – Nina Simone The ChoreoJoey Project presents opens its season 12 in New York City with a jazz ballet choreographed by Stephen Hill exploring what happens when love becomes a worthwhile presence in the world we create. Music for Lovers moves beyond the traditional romantic love story to examine love in its many forms: familial, platonic, intimate, communal, environmental, and love for the world itself. Set within a musical landscape inspired by American jazz of the 1960s and ’70s, the ballet uses relationships, ensemble movement, and evolving physical encounters to reveal how different expressions of love can shape individuals and communities. This project is made possible in part with funds from Creative Engagement and UMEZ Arts Engagement, a regrant program supported by The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) in partnership with the City Council and administered by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC).
