Movement Behavior Analysis: Observing Behavioral Differences in Dance Performance – Online Course

January 30, 2023 - April 23, 2023

National Dance Education Organization’s (NDEO) OPDI program offers online dance education courses for dance teachers who are seeking professional development. Courses are appropriate for those teaching in all environments. Our “online” dance education courses are guided by a professor and include a cohort of students (typically other dance teachers) with whom you will collaborate. This a 12-week course explores MBA and its value to the dancer and the teacher. Human beings are uniquely organized, from the shape of our ears to the ways in which we interact with the world through movement. Dancers and those who teach dance are aware of the stylistic (‘individual’) differences that exist among us as we move, both expressively and as we go about the daily business of life. You’ve likely heard of Laban Movement Analysis (LMA), a system for identifying and articulating individual differences in movement. Valerie Hunt’s approach, “Movement Behavior Analysis and Profiling” (MBA/P) is closely related and informed by LMA, but includes discreet categorizations and considerations that provide it with a unique profile as a system for movement analysis. Tuition: $520 NDEO member / $595 non-member. More info: www.ndeo.org/opdi-124. QUESTIONS: Email opdi@ndeo.org
