Filming in the age of social media will take place on Thursday, October 22 at 12pm ET with Ballet Academy East’s Founder and Director, Julia Dubno.
From parents recording every combination to students posting rehearsals on TikTok, smartphones have transformed the dance studio. We’ll discuss how to:
- Set studio policies around filming and photography
- Balance parents’/students’ desire to document their classroom experience
- Manage privacy and consent
- Navigate difficult conversations when boundaries are crossed
- Provide alternatives to parent filming, such as designated observation days or studio-created content
- Foster an environment where students can stay focused
