The Yard Show: A Celebration of African American Traditions

Africa In America celebrates 10 Years with “THE YARD SHOW: A Celebration of African American Traditions,” on September 28th and 29th, 2024. This event will take place at The Miracle Theater in Inglewood and Crenshaw Yoga & Dance Studios, providing participants with an opportunity to explore African American traditions that emphasize wellness and cultural heritage. The Yard Show will offer interactive sessions designed to connect attendees with mindfulness practices and wellness resources passed down through generations. Participants will delve into the music and dance history of the African Diaspora, engaging in discussions that focus on incorporating these practices into daily life to enhance overall well-being. Master workshops featuring top dancers from the TV and film industry will be a highlight, providing unique learning opportunities in dance and movement, dance contests, and mini film festival/panel discussion. The event will also honor Congolese Master Dancer and Drummer Mabiba Baegne, recognizing her significant contributions to the community and a featured performance by West African Drum and Dance Group Farafina Kan
