Event for soon-to-be released book: Let’s Talk About Fifth

The event will include light food, drinks, a book reading, a talk with the author
and the book will be available for purchase and signing.
About the book: Let’s Talk About Fifth provides the tools to execute and teach both the craft
and the artistry of classical ballet. Professional dance training requires knowledge, passion,
communication, and a giving spirit. Even with years of accumulated dedication and expertise,
gaps occur between understanding, performing, and teaching ballet.
This book offers valuable methods to strengthen and teach classical dance. Teachers will
discover new approaches that are both practical and inspiring. With the inclusion of conditioning
and class exercises, along with over 100 photographs, all dancers will come away equipped to
develop the essential skills inherent to ballet technique.
About the Author: For over three decades, dancers under Mrs. Engerman’s tutelage have
gone on to earn professional contracts and danced with companies including American Ballet
Theatre, Ballet Inc., Boston Ballet, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance
Chicago, Nashville Ballet, Texture Ballet, Universal Ballet, the Vienna Opera Ballet, the
Washington Ballet, and on Broadway. She has also coached dancers for numerous international
competitions, such as the Prix de Lausanne, the Varna International Ballet Competition, and
Youth America Grand Prix.
Mrs. Engerman toured Europe as ballet mistress for Rock the Ballet, of Sweetbird Productions.
Back in the United States, she was director of the Maryland Classical Dance Academy at Centre
Pointe Performing Arts and simultaneously trained students at Charm City Ballet, Dance
Conservatory of Maryland, and Susquehanna Dance Center. Mrs. Engerman continues to
contribute to the future of ballet by training dancers throughout Maryland and Pennsylvania. She
lives with her husband and two canine companions in South Central Pennsylvania.
